DIXIE
CHICKS Make Nice with SUNSET SOUND
The
Dixie Chicks won all 5 Grammy® awards for which they were nominated
at this year’s ceremony on February 11, 2007:
Album of The Year – “Taking
The Long Way”
Record of The Year – “Not Ready To
Make Nice”
Song of The Year – “Not Ready To
Make Nice”
Country Album Of The Year – “Taking
The Long Way”
Best Country Performance By Duo or Group with Vocal
– “Not Ready To Make Nice”
All
basic rhythm tracks and additional instrumental overdubs were
recorded on the Neve 8088 console in our Studio 2
between May 2005 and January 2006---65 days in all! Sunset Sound
assistant engineer Kevin Dean lent support to
recording engineers Jim Scott and Chris
Testa, who shared in the Album and Record of The Year
awards.
Vocals
were overdubbed at The Village Recorder in West L.A. with Sunset
Sound supplying its U-67 microphone for Natalie Maines’ lead vocal.
Mixing took place at Blackbird Studios in Nashville with engineer
Richard Dodd at the console.
Sunset
Sound extends its congratulations to Natalie, Emily, and Marty,
as well as Jim, Chris, and especially Rick Rubin (Producer
of the Year winner), for this remarkable achievement,
and we are thrilled to have been a part of their success.
Studio
2 awaits a reprise!
